One more Stampscapes ornament class

I taught one more Stampscapes ornament class at Stamp Image Studio. Sadly they have had to close their doors and on Saturday she had an Open House, a last blowout sale. I taught this class before the doors opened for the sale.

Once again, I want to thank Ken Pesho for the inspiration for these ornaments.  The first one uses Country Stream Large from Nature Sheet 1 which I stamped with Marvy Matchables #3 Blue.  The sky, stamped with the same ink, is 118E Star Cluster.  Then using Adirondack Earthtones Denim and a Color Box Stylus, I added color around the edges and a little into the scene.  The last step was to stamp 068D Reeds Large, again with Marvy Blue, to give the scene some dimension and finish off with a silver metallic pen for a nice edge.

For the next card, I began with 147F Lakeside Cabin stamped with Marvy Black ink.  Then I added 197E Cloud with Rising Moon with Marvy Blue.  I set this stamp on the far left edge of the ornament the first time which left a blank area on the right.  So I had to ink it up again, flip it over and add the clouds on the right edge to finish the sky.  I also inked up the portion above the moon, flipped it over and stamped on the stem of the ornament.  You can bring the stamp right down to the top of the cabin, it will not hurt to stamp over the trees.  Then as with the previous ornament, I added Adirondack Earthtones Denim around the edges and wherever I wanted to create shadows with my Colorbox Stylus and 068D Reeds Large at the bottom.  The ornament background is a new 5x7 Cuttlebug embossing folder.

And for the third card, I started with 063G Old Mill Large stamped with Marvy black ink.  This was followed up with 058E Milky Way stamped with Marvy Blue.  And once again, color was added around the edges with the Color Box Stylus and Adirondack Earthtones Denim.  I felt it needed a little something else, so I added some pine branches using a Martha Stewart punch.

The fourth card we did was the Bell ornament from this previous post.  A couple of my students had trouble when they sealed their ornaments.  I recommend spraying your ornaments/scenes with an acrylic glossy spray to stop the ink from fading.  I use Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear Gloss Clear or True Value PDS-7 Acrylic Glossy spray.  These two students both used Krylon Acrylic Glossy Low Odor and had trouble with their ink running.  So I don't recommend that particular brand of spray.  I have never had any problems with anything I have sprayed over the years.

Merry Christmas Stampscapes

This is another card from todays class.  A very simple card that was inpsired by card artist Judy Boggs.

I used my Stampin Up Top Note die to cut out the glossy and green panels.  Then simply stamped the trees in two shades of green ink, added the saying and it was basically done.  The pines are from Nature Sheet 1 from Stampscapes, the Merry Christmas is from Inkadinkado.  I added Diamond Stickles to the darker trees for some added bling.  The background is Cryogen paper and a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  Finished size is 5.5 x 4.25 inches.

Winter scene for Cheryl

This is the final card we made in our class on Friday, a request from Cheryl to make a snow scene.

I began by stamping the elk from Stampin Up and then I built the scene around him using winter stamps from Sutter.  First came the Right Snow Cover F1271 in the lower right corner.  Next was the Left Snow Cover F1269 just to the left of the elk's hooves, followed by Snowy Trail D1259 just to the right and behind him.  Next came the Snowy Leaf Tree G1273 on the right angled into the scene a bit.  Then I added Snowy Fir Tree Lg F1261 to the left of his antlers, and Snowy Firs Medium D1263 above his head and about in the center.  That set of trees create the horizon line.  Then I used a very versatile stamp, Sand C972 to add some texture to the snow.  And Winter Bush D1350 across the bottom of the scene.

Next came color, using a Colorbox Stylus I added Adirondack Lights Aqua around the edges of the scene, across the horizon and every where there is ground pattern as well as clouds in the sky.  A few accents were added to the trees with Tombow marker #491, the tuft of grass with Tombow #992 and the elk and branch were colored with Tombow #977.  The final steps were to add Stampscapes Gulls 302-A to the sky and to frame the top of the scene with the pine branch from Stampscapes Nature Sheet 1

Winter scenes are quite easy, they are all about leaving white spaces and adding just light shading on the snow.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Northern Lights Photoscape with Stampscapes Rubber Stamps

Here is a very quick and easy Stampscapes card from my Friday class.  It has a big WOW factor!  This one was for Elaine.  She sent me a link to a very cool Northern Lights photo wondering if we could recreate it.

I found this photo of Northern Lights using Google Images search.  I sized it to an A2 then printed it onto my glossy card stock.

Then using Marvy Matchables black in, I created a hill using 251C Sedge Filler  Next came the pines, all 3 of the pines stamps I used; the single large, the double pine and the pine framing the scene, come from the same Nature Sheet 1.  Add 229A Doe and 008A Buck and I was done.  Be sure to put the buck further back to maintain proper perspective.  Total time to create the card was less than 10 minutes.

More Stampscapes Ornaments

I created two more ornament cards with Stampscapes rubber stamps for class with my ladies today, hey girls!  These images are stamped on glossy paper from The Paper Cut.

For the round ornament, I stamped 217G Star Birth in the sky with Marvy Blue ink.  Then using 150E Pine Row, I stamped the pines, first with Marvy Blue full strength, then again as a second lighter stamping.  One more stamping, this time with Marvy Black, giving the impression of quite a forest of pines.   Soft color was added using a Colorbox Stylus tool and Adirondack Earthtones Demin ink.  I used a silver metallic pen around the edge of the circle.  The snowflakes are from Inkadinkado, heat embossed with white detail embossing powder.

The corner punch is a 4 in 1 Corner/Border punch by Kreaxions.

The bell ornament began by stamping 309E Country Chapel Small with Marvy Black ink.  This was followed with 018E Cloud Cumulus stamped with Adirondack Earthtones Stonewashed.  Then a little Adirondack Lights Pink Sherbet was added to the clouds before adding shading with Stonewashed around the edges and into the trees.  Again, I used a silver metallic pen to outline the bell.

The background paper is a Stardreams textweight paper.  It has a wonderful metallic sparkle to it and because it is textweight, it embosses beautifully in Cuttlebug embossing folders.  This folder is called Divine Swirls.

The saying was computer generated.  Both cards are A2, 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

Mo Manning's Winter Delivery

Mo Manning of Mo's Digital Pencil Too came out with this fabulous Winter Delivery image.  I just love this little squirrel and knew he would look great in a winter scene.

I began by sizing and printing the image onto Cryogen white paper with my inkjet printer.  I also printed the image onto Eclipse tape for a mask.  Then I added the scenic stamps from Sutter Stamps around him, airbrushed some color and the scene was done.  I did add a circle mask to the sky for the moon. Last step was to color the little guy with my Copic markers:
Squirrel - E41, E42, E43, E44, R20
Sack - E21, E33
Leaves - YR14, YG93, E07
Acorns - E09, E13, E42
Hat - E07, R43
Gold ball - yr23
Sky - B02, B04  I accented the trees with B000

I used my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder on the teal panel, added some ribbon and layers of cardstock and I was done.  Finished size is 6" square.

Stippled Tag Video Tutorial

Here is a quick video showing you the technique I use for stippling this Stampscapes tag. They make great card inserts as well as bookmarks. All stamps are from Stampscapes Rubber Stamps.
The tag I hand cut using glossy card stock from The Paper Cut. It is 2 5/8 x 5 inches. For this particular card, I used Adirondack dye inks: top is Lemondade, Peach Bellini and Watermelon, the bottom is Willow and Lettuce. I stamped my images with Marvy Black ink. Once I am done, I seal the tag with a glossy acrylic sealer to prevent the inks from fading.
I hope you enjoy my video and it inspires you to create.

Stampscapes Christmas Ornaments

Here are two cards I made with my stamping ladies on Friday. I want to thank Ken Pesho, an incredibly talented Stampscapes artist and teacher, who came up with this idea.

I will be designing two more cards and creating a class to teach at my local stores. Watch my sidebar for dates.

After posting this, I decided that the first card was too plain so I took it apart, did some Cuttlebugging and here is the result, better I think!

More Stampscapes Stipple Tags

Last month my Yahoo group did a Stipple Tag swap and here are the tags I sent to Liz in Australia.

I hand cut the tags from glossy paper, they are 2 5/8 x 5 inches in size. The backgrounds are stippled with Adirondack dye inks, the images are stamped with Marvy Matchables Black ink. All stamps are from Stampscapes Rubber Stamps.

These are quite fun to make and very easy. I think they are wonderful for card enclosures and make great bookmarks. You can jazz them up with various ribbons and threads. Give them a try. Thanks for stopping by.
